Week 7 Entry (Bad Movie)

"Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers"

First off its not that this is a bad movie its just that I don't enjoy fantasy type movies especially based on a book that shouldn't be turned into a movie. I did fall asleep in this movie until the castle fight scene at the end . This movie was well produced but I didn't enjoy it, its one of the few movies I watched straight thru and didn't enjoy, I just didn't want to give a biasd opinion.

Week 6 Entry (Good Movie)

"Casino" starring Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, and Joe Pesci

Casino Starring Robert De Niro is based on a true story of the faction of the mob that runs Las Vegas Casinos. De Niro, Joe Pesci both perform their roles well and Sharon Stone provides one of her better performances in film. Directed be Martin Scorsese he continues the use of voice overs to provide a documentary feel similar to his previous film, "Goodfellas". Scorsese also utilizes an incredible soundtrack, since the story of this film spans various decades, the music he chooses helps the viewer easily follow along. Overall this movie gives the viewer a good sense of how Las Vegas casinos were well ran by certain factions of the mob and the fall of the system mob bosses had going until the system fell apart.

Week 2 Entry (Current Interests)

Currently I am involved frequently with Marching Percussion or drumline. Marching Percussion is a musical activity that is associated with a marching band. A percussion section helps provide the tempo for the band and keeps everyone in the band with the tempo or beat. Outside of marching band, drumlines usually participate in an indoor drumline setting in which it’s just the drumline and no band. In indoor drumline there is usually a theme that makes up their performance. To portray a theme they incorporate music that represents something and use costumes and a painted mat or floor that helps describe the theme of the show.
The instrumentation consists of a battery and a front ensemble. The battery consists of snare drum, the highest voice and loudest in the battery. The tenors consist of four to six drums, which produce different tones and pitches, and are the middle voice. The Bass drum section has a number of different bass drums that also produce different pitches and each player carries a drum with a different pitch. The bass drums are also the lowest sounding instrument of the battery. Some battery’s may also include cymbals that people carry to produce loud effects. The front ensemble has many different types of concert setting instruments, like marimbas, bells, timpani, etc.

Week 1 Entry

I'm attending the Art Institute of Philadelphia for a Bachelor's of Science in Audio Production. I chose to attend the Art Institute because it offers a more hands on learning experience then other schools. Also another reason I'm attending this school because its easily accessible by train from where I live. The main reason I'm attending this school is because the audio program is brand new, and I believe that graduating from a new program will look good for employers.
My ideal job after completing the program would be working as the live sound technician at different concerts at different venues. Then hopefully one day I can work at the Hollywood bowl in California. Before I came here I attended Abington Senior High School, where I was the captain of the drumline my senior year. Outside of school I play drums and I work as a part-time landscaper and I am a drumline instructor at Cheltenham High School.
